GENERAL NOTES
- All dimensions are to the interior face of finished wall unless noted otherwise. Wall construction: 2×4 wood stud @ 16" O.C. with ½" GWB each side (5" total).
- Toilet centerline: 18" from side wall per 2010 ADA Standards / ICC A117.1 §604.2.
- Toilet clearance: 60" × 59" for floor-mounted water closet per §604.3.1.
- Grab bars: stainless steel, 1¼"–1½" Ø, mounted at 33–36" AFF. Rear bar 36" min (§604.5.2); side bar 42" min (§604.5.1). Blocking in wall required.
- Lavatory: wall-mounted with knee clearance 27" min AFF. Clear floor space 30"×48" forward approach (§606.2).
- Mirror: bottom edge of reflecting surface at 40" max AFF (§603.3).
- Door: 36" leaf providing 32" min. clear opening; swings outward; lever hardware, max 5 lbf operating force (§603.2.3, §404.2.9).
- 60" Ø turning space may overlap fixture clearance zones per §603.2.1.
- Floor: non-slip finish, static COF ≥ 0.60 wet per ADA advisory.
- Ceiling height: 8'-0" AFF minimum. Exhaust fan per local mechanical code.
- DIMENSIONS GOVERN over graphic scale. Verify all dimensions in field prior to construction.
- 9'-2 3/8" = 110.375" = 9.198' ≈ 9.2' (difference: 0.025", within construction tolerance).
- This plan depicts layout and ADA compliance only. Separate MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) drawings may be required by the AHJ.
- California Title 24 Part 2, Chapter 11B: This plan complies with the California Building Code accessibility requirements in addition to federal ADA. Title 24 imposes requirements beyond ADA in the items noted below.
- Insulated pipes: All hot water and drain pipes under the lavatory shall be insulated or otherwise configured to prevent contact burns for wheelchair users (CBC §11B-606.5).
- Toe clearance: Lavatory shall provide 9" min. toe clearance depth at 9" AFF in addition to the knee clearance noted above (CBC §11B-306.2).
- Faucet handles: Faucet controls shall be operable with one hand, without tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. Lever-type or sensor-operated faucets required (CBC §11B-606.4).
- Signage: Room identification sign with raised characters and Grade 2 Braille, mounted on the latch side of the door at 48"–60" AFF centerline (CBC §11B-703.1, §11B-703.4).

Federal (2010 ADA Standards / ICC A117.1-2017):
§603.2.1 Turning Space: 60" diameter circle or T-shaped turning space required in all single-user toilet rooms.
§604.2 Water Closet Location: Centerline 16–18" from side wall or partition.
§604.3 Clearance: 60" min width. Depth: 56" min (wall-hung) or 59" min (floor-mounted).
§604.5 Grab Bars: Side bar: 42" min long, 12" max from rear wall. Rear bar: 36" min long. All mounted 33–36" AFF to centerline.
§606 Lavatories: Rim max 34" AFF. Knee clearance 27" min AFF, 8" deep min at 27". Clear floor 30"×48" forward approach.
§603.3 Mirrors: Bottom edge of reflecting surface max 40" AFF (above lavatories) or full-length.
§603.2.3 Door Swing: Shall not swing into required clear floor space of any fixture. Outward swing required for single-user rooms.
§404.2.9 Door Hardware: Operable with one hand, no tight grasping/pinching/twisting. Max 5 lbf.
California Title 24 Part 2, Chapter 11B (additions to ADA):
§11B-606.5 Exposed Pipes: Water supply and drain pipes under lavatories shall be insulated or otherwise configured to protect against contact. Valves and pipes may not be located in required knee and toe clearance.
§11B-306.2 Toe Clearance: 9" min horizontal depth at AFF of 9", extending full width of the element.
§11B-606.4 Faucets: Controls shall comply with §11B-309.4 — operable with one hand, no tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. Force shall not exceed 5 lbf.
§11B-703.1 Signage: Tactile characters and Braille on signs identifying rooms. Raised 1/32" min. Grade 2 Braille below text. Mounted on latch side of door, 48"–60" AFF to centerline.
